We have finally removed the gloss teal display kitchen from the end of our showroom. This display was originally designed for the HIA Home Show out at the Derwent Entertainment centre over 12 years ago. Even then we were using Blum Tandembox Drawers and Blum hinges, but this was before the invention of soft-close fittings in kitchens. The colours and style were still reasonably current, and it did display a custom built shaped stainless steel benchtop and curved granite island. Up to date hardware was on show on some of the other displays in the showroom. Still, after 12 years it had certainly paid for its keep and was time for a change.

The new display was also designed to be used at a home show, the 2013 HIA Home Fest at Princess Wharf Number 1. What a fantastic show, in a spectacular venue. Over 13,000 people came thru over the 2 days in early March, and I’m sure most of them opened every cupboard in our display. We have since installed the new display in our showroom so come in and have a look.

This display is less about looking like a kitchen, and more about showcasing some of the latest hardware that is now available. Some of what’s on display:

• The latest Kessebohmer fittings – Le Mans unit; Magic Corner unit; Dispenser Junior; Front & Internal Pull-Out; Potero Slide-Out under sink unit; mid-height Tandem Pantry, and more
• The Hafele One2Five bin drawer with a clever broom and shovel lid.
• 2 Hafele and 4 Blum lift mechanisms, including a HF Servo-Drive (electric lift).
• All 3 benchtops are manufactured from Acrylic solid surface, with the wall bench being Hanex Andromeda, the island bench Hanex Ice, and the raised bench with waterfall end being LG Hi-Macs Vesuvio

The raised top and waterfall end is a good example of the seamless joints that can be achieved using Acrylic Solid Surface. The display even includes a walk-in pantry, and a kiosk mounted iPad which shows a continuous slide-show of over 600 photos, which we can access to show close ups of individual projects or features
