How we work

KAM is passionate about joinery design. We work collaboratively with our clients to refine their ideas and personal styles into beautiful additions to their homes. Whilst we work within clients’ budgets, on projects of all sizes, we do not believe in compromising on the quality of our products, processes or design consultancy to compete on price.

Joinery

In-line with KAM’s values of excellence in design and craftsmanship, and client satisfaction, we pride ourselves on taking time to analyse and review designs for accuracy and functionality before the plans are progressed to the manufacturing stage. Throughout the manufacturing process, our joiners work to our high standards and strict quality control is applied. Joinery is typically assembled in the factory, as it will be at installation, to ensure it fits together perfectly and any potential problems are resolved prior to installation.

Providing a truly customised service, clients can choose panel mouldings/designs from our range or design their own. Sample panels can be manufactured for clients to refine prior to the full project being commenced. Similarly, benchtops can be customised to varying thicknesses, depending on the product, and there is a choice of edge profiles.

There are endless style options when it comes to choosing joinery finishes and we will endeavour to source any product desired by our clients. KAM Joinery offers finishes such as 2-pack, hand painting, timber veneers, vinyl wrap, laminate, acrylic, natural stone and engineered stone.

Process

Designing and manufacturing high-end custom joinery takes time. Our team is solution-focussed and doesn’t take short cuts. This means you can be assured of quality joinery techniques that provide solid, long-term structure and functionality, as well as providing a high-end aesthetic.

  1. The first step is to meet with one of our designers.
  2. Once you have met with a designer, you will be provided with a design plan, 3D images and quote that specifies the selected joinery finishes. At this stage, the plan and finishes can be fine-tuned and the quote amended accordingly. You are encouraged to ask questions about any aspects of the quote that you aren’t sure about. For instance, if you are comparing quotes, ask for information to assist you in understanding what the differences are.
  3. Once the plan has been fine-tuned and finalised, you will receive a formal document or contract and a deposit is required before the project progresses to the manufacturing stage. Our team will communicate in detail with you about the payment process and there won’t be any surprises.
  4. The design will then progress to our production team who apply meticulous attention to detail and progress the design concepts to manufacturing requirements.
  5. Our highly-skilled joiners then manufacture your joinery using best practice techniques. All joiners are trained in the KAM way and expected to work to our high standards.
  6. Someone from the KAM team will communicate with you and, if relevant, your builder, interior designer and architect throughout the process to ensure we have the information needed.
  7. In most cases, a plumber and electrician will perform work prior to and at the completion of the installation. Flooring is usually laid following the installation of the cabinets. Painting and splashbacks follow the installation of cabinetry and benchtops. KAM can schedule the subcontractors required for the joinery project.
  8. If building work is required, this can be undertaken by KAM Construction, we can refer you to builders we have strong relationships with or you can choose your own builder.
  9. Generally, the timeframe for a kitchen installation is one day to remove an existing kitchen and two to three days for installation. Time also needs to be factored into the scheduling for subcontractors to perform their work.
  10. The joinery will be installed taking time and care to ensure every detail is finished to perfection. Consistent with our values, KAM Joinery doesn’t consider a project to be complete until the joinery has been cleaned after installation, and approved for quality by KAM and the client.

Products

KAM uses the highest quality products from leading suppliers. We understand a new kitchen, in particular, is a high-cost item and this is why we only use hardware that meets our expectations for performing to a superior standard in the long-term.

We believe that joinery should not only have aesthetic appeal but be highly functional for ease of use and our joinery hardware achieves this brief. There continues to be new technological advances, particularly for kitchens, to enhance your user experience. Our designers can provide you with information to assist you in selecting from these options.
